Junior UNIX Systems Administrator
Tower's Systems team seeks a sharp, highly-skilled Junior UNIX Systems Administrator who will help support the needs of a growing number of data centers and employees. Work experience at a college/university Help Desk preferred.
Tower’s offices are located in TriBeCa in downtown Manhattan. We offer competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including five weeks of vacation per year. While we work hard, our workplace is casual, and there is always time for a game of poker or a summer party on our garden roof deck.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a system of over 500 servers and 60 data lines in 6 locations. Install, configure, and deploy fully distributed Red Hat Linux systems. Order T-1 and T-3 lines, configure and secure Cisco routers. Patch Windows and Solaris systems. Maintain system configuration files. Monitor the backup system which handles over 60TB of data. Support a user base of 80+ people.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have experience with Red Hat Linux and Windows, Cisco IOS; C/Perl/Shell; DNS/NFS/NIS; PC hardware
• Experience with Sun Solaris, Sendmail, Apache, SQL/MySQL, SSH, PHP, IPTables Administration and Nagios a plus
• Organized and detail-oriented (extremely important)
• Able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills
• Able to prioritize tasks and work meticulously
• Able to work as part of a team as well as individually
• BS in Computer Science preferred but not required
• Must have indefinite right to work in the US
• Must be able to begin work quickly--the sooner, the better!
